Happy New Year and welcome back. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful break and are feeling fresh for the start of Term 1. Your January FlexiFeed is packed full of info to help you get 2024 off to a strong start.
It's always a busy time and there's a lot to wrap your head around. If you prefer to learn by doing or enjoy discussing things with others, throughout Term 1, we'll be hosting a daily 30-minute supplier success webinar called "The Basics and Beyond".
The webinar will cover everything you need to know to get the most out of Flexischools. From the absolute basics to tips that will elevate your service and ensure maximum efficiency.
You can request that specific content be covered via the registration flow or by posting a question in our Friends of Flexischools Facebook community. Attend once or as often as you like - we hope to see you there!

Flexi in the news
With mobile phone bans now in effect in all states, you could experience a negative impact on over-the-counter canteen sales, with students no longer able to tap to pay with their phone.
Check out a recent Daily Telegraph article that highlights the impact phone bans had on NSW canteens. With Flexischools, you could seek to avoid these by offering payment via student cards or key tags.

In case you missed it
Here's a recap of how to set up your services for Term 1...
|
|
Update your calendar
We’ve already applied the standard state school holiday dates for 2024 to your services. If your school has dates that differ from this, you can easily add these via your supplier portal.
|
|
|
Update class lists
A new school year inevitably means new classes.
A critical step to start Term 1, now is the time to ensure you’ve updated the class lists for your school.
|
|
|
Change things up and edit menus
Make any changes to your menu in your supplier portal. This includes adding, removing, and updating any items or categories.
Remember: you can see how your changes appear to parents by looking at them in the Flexischools App. This means you can quickly check that it looks OK, and adjust if necessary.

|
|
Order labels
Don't forget to stock up on your FREE Flexischools heat-resistant labels.
Many suppliers tell us that no other labels compare to the quality we provide. Being heat-resistant and smudge-proof is so important for busy school canteens.
Once ordered, labels are delivered free of charge and take between 3-5 business days to arrive, depending on your location.
|
|
Spread the word!
Throughout Term 1, we'll be developing more free materials you can use to promote online ordering at your school. Things like posters, flyers, email templates, and social media tiles.
With many new students and parents joining your school community, now’s a great time to remind parents of how fuss-free their mornings could be with Flexischools.
Bookmark this page on the Flexischools website, to visit whenever you’d like to promote your canteen and online ordering. We’ll be popping new ideas and materials there as we create them - if there's something you'd like, let us know!

Encourage kids to order
Parents of late primary and high-schoolers can choose to let their child take charge of their meal ordering, by setting up their own Flexischools online ordering login. Here’s a guide you can share with parents who might want to encourage their child to take responsibility for fuss-free lunches and ordering.

Quick Reference Guide
Many canteens have asked us for a simple guide they can stick up on the wall to help volunteers and new staff use Flexischools.
That’s why we made this handy, printable Quick Reference Guide.
It steps through the essential daily tasks of printing labels, and managing individual orders.

Eventful eventing
Term 1 is always full of fun opportunities to hold special food days or gather your school community.
To name a few, there’s:
- New family welcome events (think discos, picnics etc.)
- Swimming carnivals
- Chinese New Year - 10 February
- Ash Wednesday and Lent - 14 February
- Valentine’s Day - 14 February
- St. Patrick’s Day - 17 March
- Harmony Week - 18-24 March
You can customise your menu for special food days or use Flexischools to set up online ticketing for events. It’s a great way to streamline event management and familiarise parents with Flexischools. Schools that run events on Flexischools often experience an increase in the number of parents using the canteen service.

Help shape our future
Flexischools has always put customer needs at the heart of what we do. And as your needs evolve, so too should the Flexischools offering. Become a Flexischools test-user, to ensure we're aware of things like:
- changes you’ve made to the way
you manage your food services;
- better ways to manage events;
- how we could help you raise funds for your school or charities; and
- feedback you hear from your customers about Flexischools.
We’re keen to run 1:1 research sessions and let you play with a prototype (or test version) of what we think the Flexischools product and service might look like in years to come, asking for your feedback on how and where it could work better.
